Blog #3- Due Thursday, October 25th
As you have seen in the videos, readings and group work that we have done over the past couple of weeks, the Early American Civilizations were often very advanced with several great achievements. These civilizations found ways to adapt to their environments, and thrived for hundreds of years before Columbus ever thought of sailing a ship.
What were some of the achievements that the Early American Civilizations had?
Even with all of the achievements, eventually, these civilizations crumbled. What do you think happened to them?
Why are there so few descendents left from these great civilizations?
the native americans had many achevements.for example the inuits had very few reasores but still survived,they used ice to biuld theyre homes and use blubber from the whales they hunted for lanterns(burning it).others used buffalo for food weapons and clothing.the iriquios formed a confedericy. they did that bcuz if they didnt they would have to fight the angonquin alone. the native americans made several different kind or homes sutch as the teepee wigwams igloos and long houses.also they created canoes out of bark.
ReplyDeleteEarly American Civilizations had several achievements. Inca people had terrace farming, built long bridges and roads. The Maya calendar was very accurate; the Mayans had their own number system they were the first civilization to use zero, and had their own written language. Inuit people used ice to build their homes. Aztec people had engineering.

There are few descendents left from these great civilizations because were took over by the Spanish.

ReplyDeleteexpecally nomadic people witch meant that they followd their food and most tribes could be om the move i an hour.but the most civilized groop was the iraquois they had a confedracy that was all of the scoom people the voted on leaders for clans and the whole big thing only woman could vote and only men could run to get elected they wher e more advanced than we where at points.
i like the whole idea . it is fantastic but i honestly think that the topic sentence should be their were many achievments.

DeleteI think that the reason the civilizations crumbled is, that the different clans fought over land and brought each other down. A few of the many achievements that the early native american civilizations had were canoes and tee pees they used canoes to hunt and fish on the water and they use tee pees obviously to live in! There are only few descendants of the great civilizations, because (to go along with what I said earlier) the clans fought over land and eventually brought each other down (to say it nicely)

Deletei think that the early civalizations all crumbeled for the same reasons. i think there are 3 main reasons. one: un preparedness, like the aztecs who were not ready for the cankisadors attack. two: sicknesses. also using the aztecs as an example, the city was sick so they were conqured easily. three:war its self... sometimes civilazations are hit head on and just cant win a battle so they fall. that is why i think the civalizations crumbeled.
ReplyDeleteI think you are right. Maybe if the Incas or Aztecs relized that there was a deadly disease going around and that the conquistadors were killing them maybe they would have fled. Also if they knew what was happening maybe they would have been prepared to fight or flee.

Some of the achievements of the mayas were they created the writing system and they were very religious! Also with all the achievements the civilizations crumbled i think they took the achievements with them to their new place! There were so few decendents because a lot of people died from illness.

there are very few descendents because when the spanish took over the disease small pox wiped out most every body that was not from spain, because the spanish were immune to small pox
Small pox did not wipe out that many native americans it did wipe out a lot of the Aztecs but the native americans slowly blended in with the native american culture.

DeleteEarly American civilizations had many accomplishments. For example the Aztecs made bridges and floating islands. The Mayans were the first civilization to use zero (made the number zero). The Olmec influenced later civilizations (the Mayans, Aztecs, and Incas). Also, the Incas did lots of terrace farming (invented terrace farming). These early American civilizations made many accomplishments when they were the ones that thrived.

DeleteMany early civilizations have grate achevments,But that dose not prevent them from crumbuling. for exzample, the incas had 100s of miles of roads and bridges but they still crumbuled at one point.the myans had a calinder that tells imortant dates and times but that didint help them. whut i am trying to say is that evry civilization crumbles when that may be they may never know but with grate power comes responsibility.

DeleteEarly civilizations had many achievements. Some of which are very hard to accomplish. For example the Commanche tribe using every part of the buffalo they hunted. They ate the meat, made clothes out of the hide, used the bladder as a water bottle/canteen, and many other things. I think that being able to rely on the buffalo is also an achievement. Another example of an achievement is the Iroquois tribe using their resources to build huge 150 foot long houses called longhouse. They could hold up to 12 families from the same clan. I think another achievement of the Iroquois is beung able to think of the idea of longhouses and then building huge walls to protect them and other families longhouses. The creation of the Iroquois league is another huge achievement. When the the five tribes(Senaca, Cayuga, Onieda, Onandaga, and the Mohawk)came together so that they would not be taken over by the Algonquin it was amazing how much changed throughout the tribes. There was no fighting in between the tribes, hunting was allowed throughout the land to anyone in the tribes, and many other important things. There are many other important achievements throughout the native american tribes, but I think these are the most important.

They crumbled eventually because the spanish brought over small pox, and they also were more advanced for example they had armor, horses, and swords. there are so few descendents left because no one carried on the traditions and cultural beliefs of the civilizations. also the spanish killed off almost everyone so there wasnt much left to descend from because there would be no one to teach them the ways of the civilization or hav the children to carry on the generations.

How I think the civilzations were destoyed is by civilations fighting eachother. Also it could have been of starvation and/or deises.This is what could have been the cuase for the civilation to soon die.
ReplyDeleteI agree, although fighting with each other isn't the only way early civilizations died out.For example the Incas tribe died from small pox and the conquistadors killing them off. Not all of the early native american tribes are dead either. There are still some Iroquois members around.

ReplyDeletethe a cheavements are they made long house for shelter. another one is they made aliances with other tribes. the reason why they crumbled is that the tribes wanted more land then they need so they fought a lot untill they broke the aliances and fought.then they boke down.then the europe tribes came and took over them. some use their ideas to be a bigger tribe and they kept their ideas.

ReplyDeleteEven with all of their achievements the early American civilizations still fell (or crumbled). There are many ways they could have fallen. I think they fell because of their population. Places like China are overflowing with people, that’s probably how the civilizations all fell. Their population must have kept getting bigger and bigger, eventually causing their government to not be able to keep track of everything. These most likely caused crimes to be committed and no one was there to give the punishment or stop it. The fall of the early American civilization was the overflowing of their population to me.

The Maya for example had a written language, stone pyramids, a number system that includes zero, an accurate calendar, organized religion-human sacrifices-, and a deadly ball game so deadly you were killed if you lost. The Aztecs on the other hand had farmers, engineering-floating islands-,polytheistic, strong warriors, large cities, a ball game, and art. Last but surely not least, the Inca civilazation. Their achievements included roads and bridges that cover thousands of miles, a written language, terrace farmming, and stone buildings that are still stading today.
ReplyDeleteObviously these civilazations are all extremely advanced but yet again they were conquered by the conquistidors with ease. There are a few reasons they were so easily conquered. First of all they did not see the attack comming and so they were not prepared.After all, the warriors greatest wepon is the element of surprise. Also the conquistidors had armor, steel weapons, and horses too. Unlike the american civilazaions who had never seen such a thing. The conquistidors also had the disease little pox around for a long time and they have become some-what immune to it. But the advanced civilazations were never exposed and quickly got the disease and started dying.The disease they got also explains why there is very few desendents.
The Early American Civilizations had a lot of achievements. The Iroquois invented longhouses, which held up to 12 families. (Mother, father, sons, daughters, grandmothers, grandfathers…etc.) the Olmec had large stone heads and helped out the Maya, Aztec, and Inca Civilizations. The Maya invented the word zero. The Aztec Civilization had accurate calendars. And the Inca had a record system using knots in a rope. When the civilizations crumbled, they probably moved or joined a different civilization. I really don’t know why there are so few descendaents left from the civilizations. but since they lived near water, some people might’ve thrown them in the water as a funeral.

ReplyDeleteDifferent civilizations had different achievements. The Aztec were able to build a city nearly all on water,the Inca were able to expand their empire by adding smaller peoples to their already large empire, and the Maya were educated enough to create a calendar and have a concept of zero very long ago. Native American civilizations were all able to adapt to their envoirnment. There were tribes that lived in very harsh environments but still managed to thrive.
ReplyDeleteAmerican civilizations crumbled for various reasons. The latin and south american tribes were conquered by the Spanish conqistadors.Native american civilizations fought with eachother but were ultimately blended together and then slowly died out from diseases and famine etc.

ReplyDeleteEarly Civilizations thrived yet to many of us it is a mystery of how they fell apart..... Although thesse civilizations made great amount of advancements while they lasted, all of them fell apart a similiar fate, explorers from foreign countries. With these explorers came diseases, animals, and warriors ready to take over.
ReplyDeleteNatives could not fight diseases that foreigners brought because the germs were unknown. The animals the explorers brought, such as pigs, brought diseases that killed native animals and resources. Some explorers brought warriors to fight the natives, along with weapons that were superior and the natives could not defend themselves.
Totally,they also died of small pox. i liked the way you worded that way better than i could probably do.
Deletequestion 1) some achievements that the early civilations had before comblus sailed the ocean blue in 14 hundred 92, were weapons, boats, clothing to meet their needs, and many other things. but also in the iroquois confederacy the native americans made laws, and a CONSTITUTION. question 2)even though the native americans had so many achievements the crumbled at one point, i think that they crumbled because of war and dease brought over from the europeans that the native americans hadn't been exposed to before. question 3) i think there a few of these people today because after clumbus came over he and his people got in a war over land and resources and so now there aren't a lot of these people today.

For example, they use the buffalo for food and the hide clothes. They also used the balder for a water sack to carry food around. Another civilizations were the Iroquois. There the ones that made a 150 foot long called a longhouse. The longhouse could hold about 12 families for the same class. There are just some of the achievements from some of the civilizations.

Some achievements were they made the number zero, the invented their own language, they invented the calendar, government and number number systems. their civilization then crumbled because the explorers brought over a deicease called small pox and they then spread and over half of the latin americans population died. Since mostly all their population died not a lot of generation that could have happened.

ReplyDeleteThere are very few descendants from great civilizations like the Aztecs, Mayas, and Incas. I think this is because of when the disease small pox was brought over by the Spanish. Small pox was a disease that created spots on the human body. Since there was no cure because they had no idea what this disease was, and they were not immune to it, their population decreased by over millions of people. This created the reason there are very few descendants of the early American civilizations (to me).

ReplyDeletesome of the achievements with early civilizations where religion, weapons, clothing made from natural resorses, farming and many more. these civilizations were powerful and advanced, but they collapsed.this was due to climate change, conquered from the Spanish, and diseases they did not have the full power to keep from what was happening to there civilizations. i think there are so few of the decedents because when Columbus came he had a war witch had may of these people killed.
