"Where you live affects how you live."

What does this quote mean to you?  Think about our discussions in class about Bartoskia and the pros and cons of different geographic features.  Be specific- provide details and examples to explain your answer.

  1. i think this quote means that where you live it has an effect on you and your surrondings. lets say that you lived in the great plains by water. you would have a water supplie and great farm land and have a hay house

    1. I agre with your statement for example. Like if you lived in a forest then you would only have firewood and some portection.

To me this quote means, what you do depends on where you live and the climate/enviroment you live in. Different geographic features can effect what you do to live. For example, a river can provide tranportation, food, and water. Plains and forests can provide you with wood and different food sources. If you live near a river you might need to get water there, or if you live near a forest you might need to hunt for food there.

    1. I agree. You make do with what you have. The resources you have affect how you get food(fish, hunt, and more) or even what you make your shelter out of ( wood, cave....).

    2. That was my first thought that "Where you live affects how you live." The climate really makes a different in our lives and how we live.

    3. i sead the same thing omg lol holla back

      Delete
    4. i also agree because you have to make do with what you have because you would not want to travel 10 miles just to get wood. i would rather make a house out of mud than travel 10 miles to get wood.

  3. I think it means that your home influences how you do things. For example if you have a lot of land you are bound to do a lot of stuff outside but if you live in apartment you will probably be inside for the magority of the time.

  6. i think that where u live affects u by how u dress. also how u eat. the way u eat like we have forks we can get water out a fousite people in africa have a long walk to water. how healthy we r people can eat good in other people have toeat only a little

    1. i never even thought about how it efects how u dress, put it is true.. if the weather is cold, you wear more clothes. or if you are poor maybe you wear rags like in africa.

  7. this quote means geography affects how you live. for example the geography of iceland, if you live in iceland that is not a good place for farming because it is so cold. but it is good for trading because there is water all around it for good trade. another thing is if you live by mountians that is very good for protection. but on the other hand it is not good for growing crops.

I agree. Like if you live in the plains it is good for farming, but natural disasters, like fires, can harm you because of all the dry bush and weeds. If you live by a river you can travel, fish, and trade by boat. People can't really atack you either. There is good farming because of silt, but there is a risk of flash floods.

      Delete
    2. i totally agree because some places are better than others for farming and depending on where you live you get you food and resourses in different ways

  8. i woold live in an area were tou have acses to water wood and other things like protection. i would live there becouse it would have evry thing you need.

  9. This quote means that each evironment has different pros and cons. An example is like in the forest you have shelter, firewood and small game animal too. A con is that you may have to walk 50 miles to find water. Another example is if you live in the mountains, you have high grounds as protection but a con is you do not have easy access to water. Here are 2 examples that help support this quote.

  11. Where you live does affect how you live in many ways.Different temperatures affect how you dress. Also depending where you live, natural disasters might be common, floods for example. If you live in that kind of area, you house might be on a hill or slightly off the ground on stilts.

  12. this quote means that due to geography and climate will change the way you live. for example, if you lived the mountains, you would have to hunt instead of reling on crops

  13. This quote means that your environment such as weather determines what you wear because of the seasons, also the type of house you live in because of the temperature and plant life. And these are just some of the examples

I agree. I agree because you are right for many reasons. For example, if it is snowing out you might wear a heavy coat and boots, or if it is warm out you might wear shorts and short sleaves. The house you live in depends on the resources you have available. For example if you live in a very wooded area your house probably would be made out of wood or if you live in the arctic your house would probably be made out of snow(igloo).

      Delete
    2. i would have to dissagree because i think its more of what resources you have avaliable to you. rather than weather because that can change alot.

  15. In Bartoskia there is alot of land which is good for providing natural resources for the population. On the other hand, the water sources are far away and that would make it difficult to build communities.

  19. To me this quote means that the geography can change how you live, what you do and many different things in your life. The enviroment can make a different in what clothing you wear or what activities you do for entertainment. If you live near water it could provide transportation.

  20. i think the quote means that where you live effects what you do. like if you live in a forest near to a river you would probably live in a log cabin and eat fish. but you would have very limited farmed goods because a forest isnt good for that.

  25. I think the quote means that where u live affects how u live by the foods u eat, or what temperature u think is the best, etc. For example if u live in Florida u minght like lots of fruits because fruits grow best in warmer climates and then u might prefer to live in 80*F weather because that is what u r use to. So that is what I think the quote means.

  32. This quote means tO me that wherever you live there will be benefits and problems one of the benefits of where I live is that it has four seasons these four seasons provide different pros and cons thus pros for me is that it is never extremely hot or cold it's always sort of a comfortable In between. One of the cons would be is that because we have four seasons the weather is VERY unpredictable one day it's 100 degrees out and the next it's 10. I also think that another pro would be is we could play different sports in every season if it was hot all year we would only be able to play certain sports and vice versa. Another way it has an effect would be what you wear and eat if you live in a warm climate you will only eat certain foods and wear certain clothers same as in a cold climate. Where you live really does effect how you live.

  35. i think where ever you live or what your envionment. so if you live in the dessart you need to stay out of the sun or tou over heat. if you live near cold weather you need to dress for the cold. like when you are getting an blizzard you need to take cover.

    1. I think that two but how about what they eat and if they go to school or not. Not always for the desert you have to stay out of the sun you can go in the sun if you have the right stuff like sun hat and stuff. And also if they go and can do soccer because you can not do soccer in the snow unless it is inside not outside you know.

  36. Living in the urban area there isn’t much to work with. We don’t have a lot of grasslands, or a lot of backyard space to play around. But out in the suburban areas there is a lot of grassland and backyard space. Also we don’t have a lot trees which we could build things with. For example, with trees you could build… things. While in the urban area you’re going to have to buy all those things. The way I live, it’s very expensive, depending on what you do and how you use it.

  38. The qoute means were you live affect what you do or have had to change in you evreyday life. For example if you lived in the forest you would have a great shelter but little food because the farming would be difficult but if you lived in the plains it would be easy food but little protection because of the invaders. So it practicly means that your life evolves around your surroundings.

    ReplyDelete
  39. I think the quote means that wherever you go there will be different needs due to your surroundings. For example Egypt is very dry so you need water but it has great protection. Where you live affects how you live because every place has different surroundings with different needs.

  40. Bartoskia is another example of what i think. For example I thought it would be nice to live near the twilight forest and the salecki river because you can have wood for a fire and water for drinking. There would also be animals for food. I don't think that there would be much protection from getting hurt in the twilight forest because of all the animals (con). I think there would be lots of resources to have around you that would keep you alive though (pro). What do you think?
